03 / About Ty
“Music is more than entertainment. It's a tool for connection, growth, and ownership.”
For more than three decades, Ty Boyland has worked as a professional songwriter, producer, mixing engineer, educator, and program designer. His work has appeared across Netflix, MTV, BET, PBS, CBS, FOX, and ABC, and his engineering earned a 2024 regional Emmy nomination.
As an original Memphis Music Initiative fellow, Ty delivered music production and songwriting programming across Memphis-Shelby County Schools. His youth engagement work has included Cloud901, STAX Music Academy, MPLOY, Angel Street, Kit Kat, The Orpheum, and the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation.
Today, Ty leads Ty Boyland Consulting and serves as Coordinator for School-Based Enterprise at Crosstown High, where he teaches Music Production and Entrepreneurship. He is also a member of the Recording Academy, Greater Memphis Chamber, ForbesBLK, and the Audio Educators Society.
Ty is also the Innovator in Residence at Cossitt Library, a 2026 Distinguished Education Honoree by the Tennessee State House of Representatives, and a Top 10 national finalist for Kleenex's Heroes of the Classroom.
