Why Music? Why Memphis?

Music at it's core is transformative. It gives a voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, and can be every bit as vivid and commanding as a Basquiat painting. Remember the first time you fell in love? Remember attaching yourself to songs that with perfection, described what you were feeling? THAT, is the power that music yields! Music, in education has been grossly under-utilized. While no one can take away the importance of traditional music education, many of our youth have amazing stories to tell and thought provoking ideas to share. Modern music education/experiences gives these kids license to contribute, to be known, revered, and valued alongside the Beethoven's and Mozart's of the world. It teaches the importance of empathy and collaboration, and through sound our youth can begin to answer questions that haven't even been asked yet.

For business and corporations, music is a great morale builder. As a business owner, how invaluable would it be to know how your team really feels about your company? Songwriting has a way of bringing out people's truths, and in these truths (good or not so good) we can locate opportunity! Besides, how many times can we subject people to the same old icebreakers and team building exercises? Music experiences provided by Ty Boyland Consulting, leave staff feeling like stars for the day, and the songs they record will forever be a fun and fond memory.

Memphis has a long and rich history of musical greatness. In many ways it is a melting pot of sounds and ideas. In a city that bills itself as "The Home of the Blues", we should be immersed by the influence of music. I believe that there is a way to both protect the legacy of the past, and foster a new era of Memphis music. It starts with a commitment. We must commit to not being stuck in the past and understand that as times change, we must be accountable for our own adaptation.

I look forward to working with YOU on creating a new path forward!
